Updates on the St. Paul/Minneapolis Police Raids

Looks like the NY Times is starting to take notice of the raids in Minneapolis and St. Paul.

For detailed coverage of the raids go to TheUptake:

Glenn Greenwald: Police Raids in Minneapolis coordinated by FBI?

If you don't think we live in a police state now, read this post by Glenn Greenwald and let it sink in for a while. From Glenn's assessment it seems that the FBI was involved in the police attacks in St. Paul. Acts like this on the part of the federal government are not unlike the acts of the Chinese government on its own citizens.

More on the St. Paul Police Raids

Here's more on the Police Raids in St. Paul.

RFID, Mythbusters and Big Credit

Looks like Mythbusters had planned on doing an episode on RFID and its limitations/hackability/what-have-you. When they met with Texas Intruments, lawyers from AMEX, Visa, Discover, etc, were present. Discovery Channel was told to back down and to not do the episode. Really now? I wonder what Big Credit has to hide? Seems like this would be a great opportuninty for some enterprising individuals.

Take a look at Adam Savage discussing the issue.

Glenn Greenwald: Police Raids in Minneapolis

Holy crap! Right after posting the Lew Rockwell entry, here's Glenn Greenwald talking about police home invasion raids in Minneapolis.

Remember, citizen, you are safe and free here in the United States.

Surveillance State: China, UK , USA?

With all the stories coming out about the CCTV surveillance in the UK and the recent rulings in the US such as FISA and the PATRIOT acts, it's only a matter of time before the US becomes a total and complete Orwellian fascist surveillance state.

Just found this scary little piece about China's high-tech police state.

Denver: Following the money trail

Looks like even big corporate media is not immune to the tactics of the Denver police. I guess when you get to close the political elite you are bound to get burned.

United Kingdom: Truly a surveillance state

"Not even George Orwell in his most febrile moments could have envisaged a world in which every citizen could be so thoroughly monitored every moment of the day, spied upon, eavesdropped, watched, tracked, followed by CCTV cameras, recorded and scrutinised."

Fascism: It's working exactly the way it is supposed to

Denver Police State

Been seeing lots of posts and articles about the police presence in Denver. I'm glad to see that we are being protected from those pesky freedoms of speech and assembly.

Joe Biden and Limited Government by Cato

More on Joe Biden from the Cato Institue's Blog:

George Carlin

They say we need more money for education. That's the big answer to everything, education. They say we need more money for books, more teachers, more classrooms, more schools, and more testing for the kids, and they'll say, well we tried all of that, and the kids still can't pass the tests. Don't worry about that, because we're going to lower the passing grades, and that's what they do in a lot of these schools. They lower the passing grades so more kids can pass - more kids pass, the school looks goods, and the IQ of the country slips another 2 or 3 points. And pretty soon all you'll need to get into college is a pencil. Got a pencil? Then get in there, it's physics!

Then people wonder why 17 other countries graduate more scientist than we do. Education - politicians use that word, they use it on you. Politicians have traditionally hidden behind 3 things: the flag, the bible, and children - no child left behind, no child left behind. Oh, really it wasn't too long ago you were talking about giving children a head start. Head start - left behind, someone's losing ground here, but there's a reason. There's a reason for this. There's a reason education sucks, and it's the same reason it'll never ever be fixed - it's never going to get any better, don't look for it, be happy with what you got, because the owners of this country don't want that. I'm talking about the real owners now. The wealthy big business interests that controls things, and makes all the important decisions.

Forget the politicians, they're irrelevant. The politicians are put there to give you the idea you have freedom of choice - you don't. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own, and control the corporations. They've long since bought, and payed for the senate, the congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pockets, and they own all the big media, so they control just about all the information you get. They got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying - lobbying, to get what they want.

Well we know what they want. They want more for themselves, and less for everybody else, but I'll tell you what they don't want - they don't want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don't want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They're not interested in that - that doesn't help them. That's against their interests. That's right. They don't want people that are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table, and think about how badly they're getting screwed by a system that threw them overboard 30 fucking years ago. They don't want that. You know what they want? Obedient workers - Obedient workers, people who are just smart enough to run the machines, and do that paper work. And just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime, and vanishing pension that disappear the minute you go to collect it, and now they're coming for your social security money. They want your retirement money. They want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street, and you know something? They'll get it - they'll get it all from you sooner or later cause they own this place. It's a big club, and you aint in it. You, and I are not in The Big Club.

By the way, it's the same big club they use to beat you over the head with all day long when they tell you what to believe. All day long beating you over the head with their media telling you what to believe, what to think, and what to buy.

The table has tilted folks. The game is rigged, and nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care. Good honest hard working people: white collar, blue collar it doesn't matter what color shirt you have on. Good honest hard working people continue (these are people of modest being) - continue to elect these rich douchebags who don't give a fuck about you. They don't give a fuck about you - they don't give a fuck about you. They don't care about you at all - at all - at all, and nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care.

That's what the owners counted on. The fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white, and blue dick that's being jammed up their assholes everyday, because the owners of this country know the truth. It's called the American Dream cause you have to be asleep to believe it.

Joe Biden for Vice Dictator

Glenn Greenwald nails it again! The Democrats have done nothing to reign in the Executive Branch of the US government and why should they? Once they gain power, they will enjoy the same power that the Bush Administration put into place. By choosing Joe Biden, Barack Obama has essentially stated that he will continue with the status quo.

Great article and is definitely worth the read.

US Border Patrol: Keeping us safe one penis pump at a time. (NSFW)

Found this over at Gizmodo. Looks like the FDA has announced that US border agents are to confiscate any "penis enlargers" or "constricting rings". Link to original story.

I'm glad the FDA has decided to employ the help of US border agents, to help protect my penis.
Thank you Uncle Sam!! My Penis Thanks you.

: The hypocrisy of the US government and Perpetual War

"Peace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations; entangling alliances with none."
-- Thomas Jefferson

The hypocrisy of the US government is absolutely astounding. The Bush administration has been chastising the Russians over the Georgian situation, yet sees no problem with the US bombing, occupying and interfering with the internal affairs of other countries. Check out Glen Greenwald's latest over at Salon:

Big Brother: New Guidelines Would Give F.B.I. Broader Powers

Looks like the Justice Department is trying to loosen restrictions on the FBI:

"A Justice Department plan would loosen restrictions on the Federal Bureau of Investigation to allow agents to open a national security or criminal investigation against someone without any clear basis for suspicion, Democratic lawmakers briefed on the details said Wednesday."

Do we really need to give more power to an already huge monster?

Big Brother: Citizens' U.S. Border Crossings Tracked

"This database is, in a sense, worse than a watch list," he said. "At least in the watch-list scenario, there's some reason why the name got on the list. Here, the only thing a person does to come to the attention of DHS is to lawfully cross the border. The theory of this data collection is: Track everyone -- just in case."

Under the system, officials record name, birth date, gender, date and time of crossing, and a photo, where available, for U.S. travelers returning to the country by land, sea or air. The same information is gathered about foreign travelers, but it is held for 75 years. -- Greg Nojeim

Governed By Wolves

A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves. – Edward R. Murrow

I found this quote while doing some searches on libertarianism and tyranny. I'm not sure of the context of Mr. Murrow's quote but felt it stands pretty well on it's own considering the events of the last 8 years. The purpose of this blog is just for me to post links to eyebrow raising articles that I come across and keep the editorializing to a minimum (maybe).
