This is what happens when you don't pay the Thugocracy

Remember Ed Brown from New Hampshire? The guy and his wife were convicted of tax evasion. You can guess how that ended... (

Now it turns out that even helping tax evaders, can land you in prison.

Naomi Klein on Bush and the looting of public wealth

"every day it becomes clearer that the bail-out was sold to the public on false pretences. Clearly, it was never really about getting loans flowing. It was always about doing what it is doing: turning the state into a giant insurance agency for Wall Street, a safety net for the people who need it least, subsidised by the people who will most need state protections in the economic storms ahead."

The Bush Administration and the Federal Government selling the bailout on false pretenses, why does that sound so familiar?

Terrorism laws can be abused to stifle dissent: UN rights expert

This one if from the "No shit?! Really?"/"Glaringly Obvious" file.

"Britain's use of anti-terror laws to freeze the assets of failing Icelandic banks shows how such legislation can be abused for purposes other than originally intended, according to a UN independent expert."

He warned that such practices "can easily be abused for the purpose of curtailing protest opposition (and) demonstrations."

ACLU Demands Information on Military Deployment Within US Borders

Glad to see the ACLU getting involved on the reports that the US military is being deployed with in the US. If these reports are true they would violate the Posse Comitatus Act.

Obama: Baby eater

Another good article over at Lew Rockwell.

Karen Kwiatkowski: Reflections on the 'Crisis'

"The empire has come home, and it has made us the occupied, the enslaved. Just as the American empire abroad has been motivated and animated by corporate interests, it is so here at home."

Government Leviathan: It keeps on growing

As if bailing out and nationalizing a bunch of banks and corporations wasn't enough, Comrade Bush found time in his busy schedule to sign a wicked new anti-piracy law. While Lehman and AIG execs are sunning themselves on the beach drinking Mai Tais, mom and pop are having their their computer seized and taken to court thanks to junior. But don't worry, this really isn't about teenagers downloading mp3s and movies.... it's about organized crime and counterfit car parts. Just ignore the fact that the RIAA and MPAA and creaming themselves right now.

Update: Been reading lots of comment on this and people are saying that the congressional version of this bill was much worse. Lots of democrats involved. I guess it's easy to blame Bush when in reality congress is just as big a threat. As one person has stated "This Congress is our enemy as much as Bush".

Rage Against the Machine

I wonder how long it will take for Americans to wage "revolutionary war against their oppressive U.S. backed government"?

The Fed Is "Unleashing an Inflationary Holocaust'

Found on the Lew Rockwell blog.

Uncle Sam Goddamn

As we have the $700 Billion bailout jammed down our throats here's something to ponder as Washington tries to fix the US financial situation.

Senate Passes Bailout

Looks like we're getting this whether we want it or not. Big Brother knows best. From what I've heard and read about this new and improved bailout, it has a lot more porktastic.

VP Debates

Wow... just watching the VP Presidential debates and both are advocating more war and more military interventionism.
